Professional Credentials & Experience
A Foundation in Science. A Career in Leadership. A Passion for Integrative Healing.
Academic Education
My professional journey began with a fascination for the human body's remarkable capabilities and a desire to help people achieve greater health, strength, and well-being - including myself.
With a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, a career spanning fitness and wellness leadership, and extensive training in complementary healing practices, I bring together scientific knowledge, professional experience, and a lifelong commitment to learning.
From managing fitness facilities and developing educational programs to training competitive athletes and helping women prepare for pregnancy, my career has centered on empowering individuals through knowledge, movement, and meaningful lifestyle changes.
Today, these experiences inform my approach to women's well-being through Kimberly Hearn Healing and the Medamys® Method.
Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science
University of Massachusetts Amherst
My academic studies established a foundation in human anatomy, physiology, exercise science, physical conditioning, and the relationships between movement, physical performance, and health.
During my time at UMass Amherst, I also taught weightlifting classes, helping students learn exercise techniques and principles of strength training.
Additional Undergraduate Education
West Virginia Wesleyan College
My earlier undergraduate studies included fine art and sports medicine, alongside my participation in collegiate track and field as a thrower in javelin and discus.
These experiences contributed to my appreciation for athletic performance, creative expression, and the importance of physical and personal development.
Professional Leadership & Management
Fitness Director | Wellness Coordinator | Head Personal Trainer | Strength Coach
My career in exercise physiology, fitness, and wellness has taken me through a diverse range of professional environments, from premier athletic clubs and corporate wellness centers to hospital-based fitness and rehabilitation programs.
I've held leadership positions as a Fitness Director, Wellness Coordinator, and Head Personal Trainer at facilities including Wilmington Athletic Club, World Gym, and Turner Athletic Club at CNN Center in Atlanta. These roles involved overseeing fitness departments, hiring and mentoring professionals, developing innovative wellness programs, and managing the daily operations of comprehensive fitness services.
My experience also extends into healthcare settings, where I served as a Wellness Associate and Group Fitness Instructor within the Greenville Hospital System, specializing in senior fitness and exercise programming associated with cardiac rehabilitation.
Throughout my career, I've worked with a remarkably diverse population, including competitive and Olympic-level athletes, corporate professionals, older adults, individuals with specialized fitness needs, and women preparing for pregnancy.
Beyond individualized training, my work has included exercise physiology assessments, submaximal VO₂ testing, university-level weightlifting instruction, corporate wellness education, and the development of specialized programs such as Safe Kids, which introduced young people to safe and responsible strength training.
These experiences strengthened my ability to translate exercise science into practical, individualized wellness strategies while cultivating the leadership, educational, and interpersonal skills that continue to shape my integrative approach today.
